20-21 GG3026: Glacial Environments
The course will examine the role of glaciers in both Quaternary and modern environments. Glaciers are fundamentally important in the global environment, influencing and being influenced by climate change at a wide range of timescales and modifying the geomorphology of basins. We will also touch on other topics such as human dependency on glaciers, such as hydro-electric power generation and agricultural irrigation and the future climatic implications of melting periglacial permafrost regions.
