This course deals with the complex issues of managing people at work. Human Resource Management draws from various disciplines including economics, political science, psychology, sociology and increasingly relies on statistics/quantitative methods to draw inferences of human behavior at work. As a field of management, it deals largely with the deployment of human resources to increase labour productivity and secure a competitive advantage. Doing so, raises a number ethical and political issues which managers and their organizations need to deal with. You will benefit most from this course if you think across disciplines and try to integrate your work/professional experience if any with the theoretical concepts covered.
