Useful documentary: please try to view in your own time the (70 minute) BBC documentary 'Franco: behind the myth' (1992). Two copies are also available from the Founders Library dvd collection.

ESSAYS: Full information about the required written work for HS2224 is included in the course document uploaded to MOODLE which I would ask you all to read. During the course students will produce TWO essays from a prescribed list, the better of the two will count for 30% of their mark (the summer exam for the remaining 70%).

ASSESSMENT: One essay (30%) from two submitted of 2,000-2,500 words (deadlines below) and an end of course exam (70%) (2 questions, 2 hours)

For Group 1 courses:

Essay 1: week commencing Monday 5 February 2018
Essay 2: week commencing Monday 5 March 2018

Students may deliver their essays during the class falling within the deadline weeks, or alternatively, put the essays under my office door (McCrea 314) by the end of the working week (FRIDAY 5pm) in which the deadline falls.
