20-21 FY1008: Digital Cultures
This course will explore critical approaches to digital culture and its impact
on the Humanities. From A.I. to gaming, the course will closely analyse
different forms of digital media and their social, political, and cultural
impacts. The course is divided into three sections: the first section considers
past encounters between emerging forms of technology and the cultures that
housed them; the second section turns to our present ‘digital revolution’; the
final section looks to the future to question whether the digital is a
necessary ally to ensure that the humanities are continuing to communicate
with, and adapt to, the needs of our contemporary, digitised society.
