20-21 HC6001: Research for Practice

This course will equip students with the ability to both understand and apply research in practice. In addition it will enable students to extend skills in critically evaluating published health and social care practice research.

Assessment

Formative Assessment :

Students will select and critically review 3 research papers related to their topic from a peer-reviewed journal and present their findings to the group on day 2 of this Module.

Summative Assessment :

The course is assessed by a critical literature review on your chosen topic which should be relevant to your thesis and should be related to practice issues. The length of the review will be 5000 words.


Assessment Criteria
1. Demonstrate command of the subject area and understanding of the problem/topic
2. Analytical synthesis of the literature on the topic
3. Critical evaluation of the evidence and existing literature on the topic
4. Present tentative ideas for researching the topic
5. Presentation, structure and organization of argument(s)
